A holistic, nature-based program with a sprinkling of Waldorf magic.

Billy Buttons is a playgroup designed to nourish your child’s sense of awe and wonder while offering parents and carers the chance to slow down and enjoy a morning of connection. A “Billy Button” is a child who delights in being barefoot and outdoors – curious, playful, and eager to explore. The playgroup welcomes children aged 18 months to 6 years, along with their parent or carer, to share in a rhythm of storytelling, nature-inspired craft, baking, sensory play, and simple seasonal celebrations.

Our Setting

Sessions run on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:45am – 12:00pm (sometimes finishing closer to 12:15, as we like to follow the natural flow of the morning). Groups are intentionally small – between 7 and 10 families – to create a calm, homelike environment.

Our playroom is carefully prepared with beauty and simplicity in mind: gentle rainbow colours, wooden toys, handmade dolls, play silks, shells, gumnuts, and natural treasures. The garden offers space for digging, climbing, and exploring, while inside is a sanctuary for imaginative play. Children are surrounded by warmth and wonder, allowing their play to unfold freely and deeply.

Our Rhythm

We follow a gentle, predictable rhythm that helps children feel secure and at ease:
9:45am Arrival and outdoor play
10:20am Circle and story time
10:30am Free indoor play
11:00am Baking
11:15am Morning tea
11:30am Free play, outside play, or craft activity
12:00–12:15pm Closing circle and bread handed out to take home.

What to Expect

Families are invited to bring a piece of fresh fruit each week to add to our shared fruit bowl. Seasonal fairy tales and folk stories are told by in the garden, nurturing children’s inner world of imagination.

Crafts are nature-inspired and simple, so that children and parents can enjoy them together. The program is created with the wellbeing of the young child in mind — so that families leave each session feeling nourished, grounded, and full of heart.

Important Notes

Billy Buttons is a parent-and-child playgroup; it is not a drop-off service. Enrolment is by the term, with full-term payment required upfront. The program runs in harmony with the seasons, with each term bringing its own stories, songs, crafts, and garden activities.

Term Four: Monday 12th October – Friday 11th December

Fees

$400 per term for one child for a ten week term – $360 for a nine week term. Additional siblings are currently 25% off their term price
