A nourishing, all-seasons outdoor playgroup inspired by Waldorf rhythms and nature’s beauty.

Bush Blossoms is a spring / summer playgroup for children from walking to 7 years and their parent or carer on Friday mornings. Here, childhood unfolds in the open sky – with the rustle of gum leaves above, the scent of earth beneath our feet, and the endless treasures of the bush to inspire play.

This program offers families a chance to slow down and connect with nature, community, and rhythm. Together we share songs, stories, seasonal crafts, nature play, and a simple snack beneath the trees.

Bush Blossoms by the Sea – A Seasonal Playgroup Series

Our Bush Blossoms by the Sea gatherings are a gentle, nature-immersive community experience for mamas and their children – a morning of rhythm, connection, and simplicity by the water’s edge.

Each season, we meet once a month to share story, song, and a nature-inspired craft, followed by morning tea under the trees. These sessions are an invitation to slow down, splash, play, and celebrate the beauty of the changing seasons together.

This summer’s series will be held at Shelly Beach, where the bush meets the sea.

November – Bush Blossom Picnic
Story and craft under the gums.
December – Summer Solstice Celebration
Water play and sunshine lanterns.
January – Sea Shells & Shady Trees
A coastal rhythm morning with shell crafting.
February – Sailboats & the Changing Breeze
Stories of wind and wonder as summer softens toward autumn.

Our Setting

Bush Blossoms takes place entirely outdoors in a safe and beautiful natural setting. Children are free to explore, discover, and play within the rhythm of the natural world. Sticks, stones, feathers, and leaves become playthings; climbing, digging, and balancing are woven into the morning’s adventure.

The outdoor environment offers children the space to build resilience, strengthen their bodies, and deepen their connection to the land. For parents, it is an invitation to pause, breathe deeply, and enjoy the simple pleasures of time in nature with their child.

Our Rhythm

Our gatherings flow gently, always held in the spirit of warmth and community:
Arrival: Families gather and settle into the bush space, with free exploration and play.
Circle Time: We come together for songs, fingerplays, and movement.
Storytelling: Simple, seasonal tales are shared, often with handmade props and natural elements.
Nature Play & Craft: Children are free to explore or join in a simple bush-inspired craft or activity.
Morning Tea: Families share a snack together – Sourdough and delicious jams and local honey and are selection of herbal teas are supplied. You are also encouraged to bring your own snack box.
Closing Verse: We finish with a gentle song or blessing, leaving the morning wrapped in rhythm and reverence.

What to Expect

Sessions run for 2 hours. Beginning at 9.30-11.30
Parents and carers remain with their child for the whole session (Bush Blossoms is not a drop-off service). The program is designed to be unhurried and seasonal, with activities that are simple, purposeful, and developmentally nourishing. Families are invited to bring along a piece of fresh fruit to add to our shared fruit bowl.

Bush Blossoms celebrates the joy of childhood lived in nature. Each gathering is held with care and reverence, recognising that rhythm, beauty, and simplicity support the healthy unfolding of the young child. Parents and children alike leave feeling grounded, refreshed, and more deeply connected – to themselves, each other, and the land.

Little ones in arms

Little one in arms – from new baby to first steps. A slow, gentle welcome into the rhythm of community. For mamas and their littlest loves – a time to breathe, listen to the waves, hum a song, and simply be together. No need to prepare or commit – just come as you are, with babe in arms.
This space is freely offered at our Bush Blossoms Playgroups, with an optional donation to support our morning tea and shared materials costs. Your presence is a gift to our village.
