Fairy Wren and The Moon Baby Pebble
A little story born beneath the southern stars
Sometimes a story arrives like a whisper on the wind. This one began as a simple, joy-filled idea – a choose-your-own-ending story poll I shared over on Instagram, where our beautiful community helped shape what would become The Wren and the Moon Baby.
Your votes brought this little tale to life – from the tiny wren’s fluttering wings to the shimmering moment when moonlight kissed the earth. It was such a tender reminder that when we create together, even in small ways, the stories that unfold carry the heart of the village.
In the Waldorf tradition, stories are living pictures – spoken slowly, from memory, from the heart. They aren’t rushed or overly explained; they unfold like breath and light. When we tell a story instead of reading one, something sacred happens: our voices soften, our eyes meet, and a golden thread of connection weaves between us and the child.
Storytelling in this way invites warmth, imagination, and rhythm. It nourishes the senses and offers comfort through repetition and beauty. The images that rise up – the wren, the moon, the stillness of the night – all live quietly in a child’s soul, shaping their sense of wonder and belonging.
The Wren and the Moon Baby is a small gift from my heart to yours – a story to tell in the hush of evening or the golden glow of morning circle. You can download it below, and I hope it finds a soft place to land in your home.
And this is just the beginning. There are many more stories like this beginning to unfold – tales from the bush to the sea, from my heart and notebook, and all of my playgroup and home rhythms from the last decade. Slowly written over the years – and inspiring new ones dreaming their way into being.
So stay close, dear one.
More is coming.
Much Love Heidi x
